FAQs
How is an intensive different than weekly PT or OT?

-
A higher frequency of therapy in a concentrated amount of time results in children demonstrating greater progress in 2-3 weeks than the traditional therapy model of 1-2 times a week for a year or more. Intensives are often used as a jump start to gain key developmental milestones that will be the foundation for functional independence in the future.
Does insurance cover intensives?

-
We are out of network and do not bill insurance. We will provide a superbill with all the information necessary for you to seek reimbursement on your own.
What items should I bring to the intensive?

-
Water bottle
-
Favorite snacks
-
Any assistive devices that you currently use and or are planning to use in the future
-
Shorts or pants that are easy to move in (for preparation time)
-
Extra diapers (if needed)

What happens on the first day of therapy?

-
Child will be present for 90 minutes
-
Family and therapist will meet for a portion of this time and therapist will assess child’s baseline skills
Do I need to be present?

-
Caregivers need to be present at the start and end of the session to ensure home carryover.
How long do you recommend the length of an intensive?

-
The intensive model recommends 3 weeks to help build neuroplasticity. We offer a variety of different lengths because we understand that intensive timing is based on a multitude of factors such as cost, time, and child.
