Who is the Speech Language Pathologist behind Bumblebee?
My name is Alex and I am the founder and face behind Bumblebee! I have been a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist for the last 8 years and have worked in a variety of settings including schools in DC, private practices in VA, outpatient centers in PA, and home-based services in DC. I am thrilled to bring all of my knowledge to this practice and use it to serve the community.
I have extensive experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) as a former Assistive Technology Professional. I am able to help families navigate the school-services world and can provide guidance to ensure your child receives the services they are entitled to. My passion is helping kids develop confidence, no matter why they are receiving speech services using my experience in a variety of areas of speech and language development, including stuttering and cluttering, apraxia of speech, speech sounds, and phonological awareness.
Why "Bumblebee"?
My company is called "Bumblebee Pediatric Therapy" because I believe that it takes the entire "hive" for our kids to be successful. My long term goal includes incorporating additional therapy team members including Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Social/Emotional Services such as psychologist and/or social workers. I believe that having all of these services under one roof, or "hive", can foster a "whole-child" approach to evaluation and treatment.
How do I get services?
I am offering home-based and private-school based services. This means that I will travel to your home or your child's school to provide services. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out!
