Alexa Stevens, PT, DPT

Alexa is a pediatric physical therapist with over 22 years of experience practicing in the Washington, DC area. She specializes in play-based, relationship-centered care and values partnering with families to help children build confidence, independence, and functional movement skills.
Alexa earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from The George Washington University in 2003 and later completed her transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2021. In addition to her pediatric clinical work, she has served as an adjunct professor in GWU’s School of Physical Therapy, co-founded a pro bono physical therapy clinic in Northeast Washington, DC, and supported program development with the nonprofit Therapists Beyond Borders.
She has advanced training in movement-based, family-centered approaches, including Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI). She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to supporting children with a wide range of developmental and neuromotor needs.
Alexa believes therapy should be safe, meaningful, and individualized, honoring each child’s strengths and individuality.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, laughing often, and sneaking away to the Maine woods with her family and dog.
